SJC: A Community of Faith, Knowledge, and Service

Catholic Schools Week will be held during the week of January 28 through February 3, and the theme of this nationally celebrated observance is: Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge, and Service It is always our goal to live up to this theme.

• We strive to develop a community spirit, which is based on the values of our faith, which are in turn, based on the message of Jesus. It is critically important to us that our students hear the message that they are deeply loved by God, and furthermore, that they feel welcomed, honored, and respected by all in our community.

• We are dedicated to providing the highest quality academic education, which addresses the strengths and needs of students of all ability levels. This is why we have added so many advanced, enrichment, intervention/support, and extracurricular programs to our curriculum throughout the years. And the clear truth is that this approach works. Our students consistently progress at an above average pace, and achieve far above the national average and at the very top of local schools.

• Finally, we instill in our children (and in ourselves, the adults!) an awareness that we are called to reach out to those who are struggling, offering service and support. We are part of a larger community, and we understand that Jesus teaches us to help those who have so much less than we do. Community-Oriented experiences are an integral component of our commitment to social justice, and social justice is an integral component of our Catholic Church’s teachings. We also understand that selfishness can be one of the most devastating qualities for a child to learn, and we must work together to foster unselfishness and concern for others throughout our community.

We truly hope that those of you who are members of our community see and feel that we work very hard to make St. Joseph of Cupertino a Community of Faith, Knowledge, and Service.
