Feedback from our Community - 2006-2007 School Year

SJC nurtures the whole child in a non-condescending manner. Our children are receiving a wonderful education, with good moral values instilled in them on a daily basis.
The Nakamura Family (Grs. K and 2)

I like SJC because I like learning new things.
Steven (Student, Gr. K)

I like SJC because it has really nice teachers, aides and a really nice principal.
Melanie (Student, Gr. 2)

The high quality of education at SJC is only one of the many benefits. The focus is not only on education, but also on the development of the individual socially and spiritually. The goal is to produce future leaders whose contributions make their communities a better place.
The Connelly Family (Grs. 3 and 6)

I like SJC because we have school carnivals that are very fun.
Sean (Student, Gr. 3)

We came to St. Joseph of Cupertino when our daughter started Kindergarten. Our plans were for our daughter to finish Kindergarten at SJC because of the full day Kindergarten and then move her to public school, but that changed the first month we were at SJC. We loved the environment, the teachers, daycare staff, the principal (she knew us by our names the first month) that we decided to stay. The Catholic education that our daughter is receiving is the best. We can’t wait for our son (3 years old) to come to Kindergarten. Thank you, St. Joseph of Cupertino for providing a caring and loving environment for the whole family.
The Moreno Family(Gr. 4)

This is my family’s first year here at St. Joseph of Cupertino School. I am amazed that the faculty, staff, and parents have successfully integrated strong academics, spirituality, athletics and community service into the curriculum. The students seem to show respect and care for each other through the buddy system and student family system. I especially appreciate the ethnic diversity at the school. I recommend the SJC for any parents who want both.
The Masri Family (Grs. 1 and 4)

SJC is very tough, but it prepares you well for high school and beyond.
Mark (Student, Gr. 8)

SJC makes learning fun!
Marina (Student, Gr. 8)

I love SJC because of the sense of community that is shared throughout our campus. Since Kindergarten, I have always felt I am part of a family who learns together, laughs together, and prays together.
Ashley, Student Council Vice President

I like SJC because of all the eco-friendly projects we do. I also love the fundraisers we do to help those in need such as: the wishbook donations, blanket drive, and the humane society drive that our ecology commissioners are putting together. I appreciate all of the things that we do to help our community. It makes me feel like I can make a difference.
Lindsay (Student, Gr. 8)

St. Joseph School is my first school in America so I think this school is very important to me and to my future in America. The students and teachers are very nice.
Yoo Jin (Student, Gr. 8)

I have found SJC School a wonderful place for me to teach. My fellow faculty members are a caring and dedicated group of people. The children are great. I look forward to coming to work each and every day.
Mrs. Donna Brock, Advanced Math/Algebra Teacher

What a wonderful place to work this is! There is such a strong feeling of community among staff members and in the student body. In this positive atmosphere everyone thrives! Our SPARCCLS can be felt so strongly. I might not like getting up early, but I love getting up to come here each day.
Sr. Peter Joseph, 7th Grade Teacher

St. Joseph of Cupertino School embodies the word “community.” Every member is vital to the functioning of the school. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of a place where everyone makes you feel special?
Ms. Alison Larsen, 2nd Grade Teacher

Every morning as a new day begins at SJC, I thank God for this very special place! An atmosphere of genuine love, respect, spirituality, and joyfulness greets every person arriving at this school. I sincerely wish every child’s day could be spent at a school where they feel safe, loved and are given the tools, both academic and religious, to help them grow up to be a blessing to the world. I am so happy to be working at this fantastic school with its extraordinary administration, dedicated staff, caring and supportive parents, and really super children!
Ms. Sue Blankenship, 4th Grade Aide and Primary Science Instructor

I enjoy volunteering at St. Joseph of Cupertino School because it enables me to be part of a great Christian community that values everyone and their gifts. The Morning Assembly each day is the most vivid evidence of that fact.
Msgr. Michael Mitchell, Retired CFO for the Diocese of San Jose and Volunteer Math and Science Tutor at SJC School

Wonderful seems hardly adequate to describe the SJC atmosphere, staff and students. SJC provides a warm and nurturing environment to all who attend and work at SJC. In turn, the SJC students truly stand out as loving and intelligent children who are dedicated to improving our community. When I begin my workday here at SJC, I begin it with my second family as does each SJC student and staff member.
Ms. Yvette Moss, 6th Grade Aide

You can get hot lunch, which is yummy. I also like SJC because there are nice teachers there. I met a girl named Kaelyn, and now she’s my best friend.
Sabina (Student, Gr. K)

Our family has been blessed in finding SJC. The faculty is kind and inviting. The student body is remarkable. Parent support is outstanding. The students leaving this school go on to become model students and citizens. When we meet families that have graduated from SJC, it is clear they feel the same. Our experience at this school has been nothing but positive.
The Phillips Family (Gr. 5)

I love this school, the teachers are fantastic. There are many different varieties of activities, so in all this school SPARCCLS.
Catie (Student, Gr. 5)

Our daughter is in 7th Grade at SJC. She works hard to do well academically and she also takes time to have fun! This year she has especially enjoyed the Junior High Dances with the other Catholic Schools in our area. We feel confident that Kate is getting a wonderful education at SJC and is also enjoying her time here. Thank you for making the balance between academics and fun possible.
The O’Dwyer Family (Gr. 7, SJC Class of 2004)

We provide once a week art classes that enhance and develop the students art talent in many mediums and teach realistic step by step drawings of subjects. At SJC in Art Class, we are able to present the religious masterpieces preserved by the Church and discuss their true meaning, and not just as icons.
Ms. Rosemary Findlay, Art Teacher

The atmosphere at St. Joseph’s is great. The faculty has a sincere interest in the quality of education given to the students. The staff is approachable and helpful with all concerns that we may have about our child.
The Poladian Family (Gr. K)

I love my teachers.
I feel safe with my friends in school.
I love having an 8th grade buddy.
Jaclyn (Student, Gr. K)

The good news is that SJC makes going to school fun and safe.
The good news is that my two sons are always looking forward to going to school every morning.
The good news is that the teachers and aides are well qualified and take a lot of pride in caring for and nurturing the students.
The good news is that not only are my two sons challenged academically, but also they are nurtured to be compassionate and respectful individuals.
The good news is that extracurricular programs provide a healthy environment for my two sons, such as basketball, music, etc.
The good news is that SJC has great library facility which encourages students to read and caters to my two sons voracious reading appetites.
The good news is that there is even more good news to report.
Our family would like to share all of this good news, so you and your children can be of the SJC Family.
The Arifin Family (Grs. 4 and 5)

This is our family’s first year at SJC School. My granddaughter attends school here. I help with yard duty and it’s been a great pleasure. Everyone is concerned and helpful. whenever I ask questions. My granddaughter loves it at SJC. It’s her first year at the school. She is in the 8th grade. Every one of her teachers and friends are there to help.
The Marquez Family (Gr. 8)

I’ve made good friends right away. The teachers are great and helpful. They are always on top of matters. I also like the food they serve here. It’s the greatest.
Danika (Student, Gr. 8)

Everybody has a friendly smile at SJC School.
The Ishihara Family (Gr. 7)

SJC School has nice students and teachers, so I am enjoying this school.
Riho (Student, Gr. 7)

I love SJC because of all the nice friends and teachers. It’s the best school. I feel lucky to go to SJC.
Ben (Student, Gr. 1)

We evaluated over six schools for our kindergartner. He had been attending a very high quality Pre-K at Cisco Systems, and we were worried about the transition to kindergarten. We chose St. Joseph of Cupertino and couldn’t be happier. When he first arrived, they paired him with an eighth grader who was his “buddy” and showed him everything about the school and stood behind him during Morning Assembly. The teachers really care about their job and our son comes home every day extremely happy and excelling in his studies.
The Elefant Family (Gr. K)

Twelve years ago, we sent our first born son to St. Joseph of Cupertino School. After he received nine years of excellent education, we were fully convinced that SJC is the best school for children in this area. This school provides a very strong academic program. Our son did very well on the high school entrance exam and went to one of the best high schools in this area after graduating from SJC. Besides the excellent academic programs, our son also enjoyed being part of the school sports team, Academic Junior High Decathlon team, and many other extra curricular activities. Most importantly, this school is like a big family. Every student is a member of this family. The principal and teachers not only remember every student’s name; they also remember almost every parent’s name. You can experience peace and love in this community, which you cannot experience in other schools. When our second son reached the Kindergarten age last year, we sent him to St. Joseph of Cupertino School without any doubt. We are very happy to be a member of this big family again. If you decide to send your child to SJC, we would say, “Congratulations! You made the right choice.”
The Qian Family (Gr. K and SJC Class of 2004)

I love sending my son to SJC because of the family-oriented community feeling. From the moment we step on campus each day, we all feel safe and welcomed. The faculty and staff encourage this not only from their dedication to their jobs but also by fostering care and respect for all people. My son is growing physically, academically and spiritually each and every day. He LOVES St. Joseph. I feel lucky that we are part of such a wonderful school community. I can’t wait to send my youngest to Kindergarten at SJC next year.
The Wilson Family (Gr. 2)

I love SJC because they have lots of celebrations like Field Day and Spaghetti Dinner. They have healthy and delicious food. The best part is that our principal keeps us safe. That is what I love about SJC.
Sam (Student, Gr. 2)

One aspect of SJC is the wonderful retreats they offer our children every year. This year the 7th graders visited an emergency homeless shelter. This experience I believe is part of building your child in one of many aspects of life. We love SJC.
The Patel Family (Grs. 4 and 7)

Every year I am reminded of why I sent Lindsay to SJC. I could send my child to a school that is closer and more convenient, but although I must drive a few extra miles, SJC is worth every one of them. I would drive even more if necessary because SJC goes the extra mile for my child, and for me. To SJC, we are not only a student and a parent – we are a family – an SJC family.
The Ognoskie Family (Gr. 8)

I am a product of Catholic School education. I have always helped to promote Catholic education because it considers the whole person – Body and Soul – Earth and Heaven – Today and Forever. We can speak of God as well as prepare children to live as God’s children in His world.
Msgr. Joseph Milani, Pastor Emeritus - St. Joseph of Cupertino Parish

St. Joseph of Cupertino School is a wonderful place for our children and our family. Not only is there a great academic program, but the rest of the child is educated as well. We can count on the physical, social, emotional, and moral development of each child in a positive, gentle, and caring Catholic environment. We know that the foundation our children receive now will be the base on which to build their lives as successful adults.
The Proffitt Family (Grs. K, 2, 3, 5)

As parents of two boys who have attended St. Joseph of Cupertino school for the last 9 years, we are very proud of being part of the school community. SJC is not just about strong academics and competent teachers but also about a community where everyone feels the sense of belonging to a family where love and care flourish among students, teachers, administration and parents. SJC provides a spiritual environment that models Catholic education by stressing the value of prayers, respect and charity. Our children have been involved in several projects throughout the years that prepared them to be involved in the society and share with the unfortunate families what God has blessed us with. While our children took part in the different projects, the school trained them to organize their time, build an excellent personality, grow their talents and excel in their academics. SJC is a community that we trust and feel comfortable that our children are part of. With focus on different aspects of growth including academic, intellectual, spiritual, social, moral, cultural and physical; we feel that our children experienced the best care that we could hope for.
The Iskarous Family (Grs. 5, 8)
