Starting on June 5, SJC celebrated Graduation Week with a myriad of activities involving the Kindergarten and 8th grade classes. On Tuesday, the 8th grade attended and participated in their class retreat at Presentation Center in Los Gatos. On Wednesday, the 8th grade enjoyed the sun, beach, roller coasters, and each other at their class picnic at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. On Thursday, the Kindergarten attended their class picnic with their teddy bears at the fabled “Teddy Bear Picnic”. Later that night, the 8th graders and their parents went to the islands (a.k.a. the Parish Hall which was decked out with a Hawaiian theme) as they dined and danced at the Graduation Dinner Dance hosted by the 7th grade parents. The 8th graders also viewed the 8th grade slideshow DVD created by Mrs. Ana Santos.

Friday was the big graduation day. Kindergarten graduated at 9:30 a.m. in the AV Room. During their graduation, they sang a bunch of songs and most of their eighth grade buddies attended the ceremony along with the kindergartners' family members. The eighth graders recognized some songs from when they were in Kindergarten. The Kindergartners sang “Best Friends”, “My Dog is Bigger than your Dog”, “Grand Old Flag”, and "I am a Promise with a Capital P" to name a few. After the singing each one of the kindergartners was recognized as they received their diplomas.

Later that night the 8th grade celebrated the Eucharist for the last time as a class and then they were promoted to 9th grade during an awards and commencement ceremony. Each 8th grader had a part during the Mass or Awards Ceremony.

Graduation week was a huge success this year. Congratulations Class of 2006, we'll miss you.
