Geology came alive at SJC on Thursday afternoon when the fourth grade performed “Geology Rocks.”   Jenn and Robbie, played by Jennifer and Jeffrey, searched desperately for their missing geology teacher, Professor Rock.  In their search they talked to the Earth, volcanoes, rocks, mountains, ferns, Snow White, a valley, a canyon and even a seashore!   Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson even tried to help.  In the end, Jenn and Robbie discovered that it was those shady, little ferns that kidnapped the Professor, but everyone was happy that they finally found him, except maybe the ferns.  And they all learned a lot about geology along the way.

Here's what the fourth graders think about “Geology Rocks:”

“Geology Rocks” really turned out well.  Everybody did a great job and we hardly forgot any lines.  I concur that this play will stay in our minds a long time after it's over.

The “Geology Rocks” performance was like a trip to the candy store to try a new candy because you get worried that you won't like it, but once you try it, you want more and more.

“Geology Rocks” was the best experience I've ever had with a play in my life!  I hope we do something like it next year.

It was really exciting to sing and dance in front of our school.

I felt nervous at first, but then when I went up to do my part, I felt excited.  It was so much fun!

The reason I liked “Geology Rocks” is because it's our play and because we got to learn so much about geology.

I felt wonderful being on stage with everyone watching.  Geology DOES rock!

I was more excited than nervous because I got to see our efforts in action.

I think “Geology Rocks” was great.  We learned so much about the Earth during the experience.  I wish I could do it again.
