Watch Out Students, Some of Those Balloons Are Coming Back!!!

Despite a cold overcast day, the student body had a wet and wild time at Field Day, which was sponsored by our new 2006-2007 Student Council. Seven teams comprised of students from Grade 1 – Grade 7 worked together to participate in four games as we celebrated the last week of school.

The first game was “Over, Under” and the object was to move all of the water balloons from the first teammate in line to the last teammate in line by passing the water balloons over and under each teammate.

The original second game was called “Sponge Relay”. However, due to the unseasonably cold weather, the Student Council decided to modify the game to keep the student body drier and warmer. The new game was called “Soak the Student Council”. The object of this relay was to see which team could soak the Student Council the most by taking a sponge, wetting it, and wringing it out over a Student Council Officer's head.

The third game was “Hula-Hoop Relay” and the goal of this game was to pass a hula-hoop from one end of a team to the other end of the team. The catch was that the teams had to stand in a single file line and hold hands and they had to pass the hula-hoop over their bodies without letting go.

The final game was “Soak the Teachers” and the object of this game was obvious. The teachers lined up in front of the “firing squad” and the students threw water balloons at the teachers. Some students were in for a surprise because if a water balloon did not break the teachers would throw it back at the students.

After all of the games, the students enjoyed an Otter Pop snack and that concluded the fun day in the field. We would like to thank the 2006-2007 Student Council and their moderators, Mr. Michael Lee and Mrs. Christi Schwoob, for all of their hard work in planning a successful Field Day.
