SJC
BAND tours 3 schools !!!
On Wednesday, May 24, the SJC student body was treated to a concert by our 3rd graders and our Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced bands. Our three bands combined forces with the Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced bands from both St. Clare and St. Justin. The 3rd grade started the recital by playing a medley of songs on the recorder. Next, the beginning band played a few songs, including "When the Saints Go Marching In." The Intermediate band was up next and they played "Victor's March" along with . Then the advanced band took the stage and they played a few songs including the theme to "Mission Impossible." Finally, all three bands combined for the song "America" to close the recital. After the three bands finished playing, at SJC they headed over to St. Justin School and St. Clare School for two more concerts. Playing so many gigs made the band hungry, so they refueled with a pizza party and returned to school. Also during the performances, Mrs. Lisa Barratta showed some of the instruments that students could play if they joined the band. She played a flute, a clarinet, and a saxophone for the audience. She then showed the audience a trombone, a trumpet, and the drums. The Beginning Band starts in 4th grade, the Intermediate Band starts in 5th grade, and Advanced Band is for those who are proficient at playing an instrument. All who are interested should talk to Mrs. Barratta. |
