Feedback from our Community - 2009-2010 School Year
SJC School has enhanced my daughter’s confidence level in her learning, boosted her social skills, broadened her values, instilled religious beliefs, plus motivated and influenced her to take on a school leadership role in the near future. I am glad I made the right choice in choosing SJC School for my daughter, and I have yet to be disappointed after witnessing and experiencing her continued growth at SJC.

2009 was our first year at SJC and we are very happy that we have chosen this school. The school staff and teachers are very knowledgeable, patient, and responsible. There is a good balance of academics, sports, and fun activities at SJC. Kids are encouraged to take part in a variety of challenging school projects. The principal, Ms. Lyons, stays very involved in all the school activities and is a true leader!

On December 31, our family had the privilege of attending Mrs. Donna Brock’s Funeral Mass. As always, I was so touched and comforted by our wonderful community. My list of reasons for loving SJC could fill a book. It is my home away from home, it is people who share my morals, and most of all St. Joseph’s community is filled with people like me who will do just about anything to send our kids here. And as my children get older it is such a pleasure to see the appreciation they have for their ol’ stomping grounds. What I really want to say is how comforting it is to come to St. Joseph’s. It was so moving to see all of the teachers and priests at the Funeral Mass together – it was just beautiful. Donna would have been so honored. I was overcome by all of the kindnesses and closeness, and this wasn’t the first time - it’s happened so many times in my years here. I just had to take a minute to tell you. I want you to know how grateful I am to be a part of this family. I am truly blessed and so are my children. It’s nice to share both joy and sadness with such great people.

SJC is a very unique school. It not only prepares our children academically and spiritually, it teaches them to be thankful, respectful, and joyful. It teaches our children good manners, to be polite and socially adept. It builds our children’s characters and helps them to grow and face future challenges in life. My husband and I feel very safe and secure to have our children at SJC. SJC has an exceptional team with a great principal and staff. There is no other school that prepares our children as well as SJC does.

Our older son received 9 years of excellent education from St. Joseph of Cupertino (SJC), went to a Catholic high school, and now attends a Catholic university. Our younger son is currently a 3rd grade student at SJC. Fifteen years ago when we were searching for a school for our older son, we worried a lot. As working parents, we wanted to make sure we left our child in the best hands. Luckily we found SJC. The Catholic education from SJC not only built a strong base for our children, but also strengthened our faith in God. One of our friends once asked us if our sons’ school was as strict as what she saw in some movies about old Catholic schools. We laughed and told her our own experiences. We believe that discipline is a very important part of our life. Unfortunately, people often relate discipline with punishment. Actually, SJC has a unique discipline system that’s built by many loving hearts. The “Bully-Free” rule is one of the examples. Positive discipline helps each student be a better person, and brings them to the path of being successful. If we say that sending our first child to SJC was by luck, then sending our second child to SJC was our decision. We have no doubt that we made the right decision.

Why am I happy that my son is at St. Joseph of Cupertino? In today’s world it is sometimes difficult to find a positive environment and influences for children. So when we chose St. Joseph of Cupertino, we were looking for a positive and spiritual environment for our son. Having had some family members graduate from SJC, we knew we were making the right choice. SJC provides our son with a faith-based education in a safe and loving environment. I couldn’t ask for more.

We moved our daughter from an expensive private school to SJC, and we are so happy that we did. Our daughter went from disliking school to loving it. SJC offers a challenging curriculum with a great balance of developing the “whole” child. At SJC, the teachers know what they are doing and they pay attention to the needs of the kids. In addition, SJC emphasizes a close community. You will meet friendly, motivated parents who care about the school and the success of their children.

What separates St. Joseph of Cupertino School from any other school? For us, as the parents of one current St. Joseph of Cupertino student, and one graduate, that answer is easy. It can be summed up in four words: Community, Values, Academics and Leadership. Students at St. Joseph of Cupertino School are part of a much larger and very cohesive parish community. The school’s value system, which is embedded in the SPARCCLS program, is more than just words. The values are woven into every aspect of the school’s curriculum and activities. Preparing the students for their high school education is the primary function for any elementary school. Students from St. Joseph of Cupertino are well-prepared to meet the challenges of high school and excel academically, spiritually and socially. Finally, the leadership at St. Joseph of Cupertino is committed to providing a great learning environment and developing a strong, values based foundation for each student.

Our son has attended the school since Kindergarten and he is now in the fifth grade. It has been wonderful to watch all the kids grow and mature into great young people with respect and compassion for others. In this tight-knit community of family and friends, it is very heart-warming to see the students thrive in an environment that allows them to maintain a certain innocence which is so rare in today’s world. I thank Ms. Lyons and her wonderful staff for making us feel so secure and confident in SJC’s teaching philosophy. We have always felt it was a great investment in our son’s future.

We first made our decision to enroll our son at SJC seven years ago, then again with our daughter. Re-evaluating middle school options, we decided again in favor of SJC. Why? The reason is simple: SJC offers more than a strong academic program. Yes, it’s wonderful to see our kids enjoy learning from caring and capable teachers and staff. But more importantly, we see them growing in community, leadership, respect, and faith. SJC does not only espouse these values but also puts them into action through its principled leadership and many concrete programs and activities to teach our kids these same ideals. If we had to decide on a school all over again, we would choose SJC!
