LIFE - Spring Scholarship Drive

May 6, 2011
Dear Friends of St. Joseph of Cupertino Community,
A single mom received the news that her company was closing. She was struggling financially before; now she was panicked. She knew that she would have to put all of her time and effort into cutting expenses and finding another job. But what to do about her children? They absolutely love SJC School and have been with their friends since Kindergarten. She could not bring herself to tell the children that she could no longer afford the full tuition. Her friends gave her the best advice possible — go talk to the pastor and principal; our community will stand by you. And thanks to your generosity, we were able to do exactly that. A few months later, this mom found another job and she is getting back on her feet. She is so grateful to our community that she did not have to uproot her children during this time of crisis.
Enclosed is a brochure that further describes the four scholarship programs in our L.I.F.E. (Legacies In Faith and Education) Program:
- The Dick Caldwell Memorial Scholarship Fund
- The Nick Kelly Memorial Scholarship Fund
- The Fr. Leo Rooney Memorial Scholarship Fund
- The newly established Donna Brock Memorial Scholarship Fund
which honors Donna Brock who served as our Parish Religious Education Director for many years, and also was our parish school's Advanced Math Teacher for several years. She touched many hearts and her presence has truly had a lasting impact on our community. She herself was always so generous to any project that helped the school and parish in general, and children in particular. We know that Donna is in heaven, smiling upon us, as we honor her legacy in this special way.
Be assured that any gift goes directly to the fund you designate; none is used for administrative overhead. Donations are tax deductible, and can be spread over several payments, using our pledge program.
In closing, please know how grateful we are for your generosity to our parish school. We keep you constantly in our prayers.
Sincerely,
Reverend Gregory Ng Kimm
Pastor
